Safe Moving
We do still move safes but not all safes. The safes we dont move is about where is the safe being moved to. Stairs, floor will not support the weight, door way is not big enough or other reasons. Stairs: Generally, we do not do stairs. The stair climber we have is rated 1500 lbs. but we will not put more than 800 lbs. on it. The unit requires 12 wide stairs. Most residential stairs are about 10 wide. Also, there is great concern about if the stairs will support the weight. To move an 800 lb. safe upstairs requires the stairs to support an approximate weight of 1400 lbs. 800 lbs. safe plus 100 lbs. and 2 people at 250 lbs. each = 1400 lbs. & a safety factor must be included.
General Safe Moving Some Basic information.
We have good equipment, quite a lot of equipment and small but good crew. Our list of equipment and small but good crew. Our list of equipment includes: Electric stair climber, special carts that go on each end of safe with hydraulic lift wheels that can move over 4000 lbs., Pallet jack 5500 lbs., Johnson Bar (Big crowbar on wheels), rollers, flat steel bars, blocking, small amount of cribbing Plywood for plating floor, come-a-longs, cable wench, golf balls with racks and a ramp. The big truck is limited to a safe no higher 5 6. If a higher safe is to be moved (trucked) then we will use other resources to do the move.
